| The Carolinas are rich in tennis tradition and year-round activity; excellent programs, tournaments and league play can be found from the Blue Ridge mountains to the Atlantic coast. With more than 1,050 indoor and outdoor courts, there are programs at some 108 clubs, schools or associations in more than 30 cities throughout South Carolina. Both states provide outlets for play at every level.
The United States Tennis Association leagues in South Carolina have more than 10,000 active players, giving them the fourth highest membership in the nation. Greenwood, Spartanburg, Greenville and Rock Hill are strong tennis centers in the Upstate. In the Midlands, Columbia and Aiken are active tennis towns, as are Florence and Hartsville in the Pee Dee. On the coast, Myrtle Beach, Charleston and Hilton Head Island are ideal tennis communities.
